CUTLERVILLE RESIDENT'S HARRY POTTER ENCYCLOPEDIA ON HOLD: Local publisher will delay Harry Potter book
A West Michigan publisher has agreed to temporarily delay the release of a book dedicated to all things Harry Potter while a federal judge in New York gives his lawyers time to prepare a request to dismiss a lawsuit brought by author J.K. Rowling and a film studio.
The 400-page book is the print version of the Web site -- hp-lexicon.org -- founded by Cutlerville resident Steve Vander Ark. The site is used by 25 million people worldwide and is widely regarded as the definitive encyclopedia of all things Harry Potter. It was scheduled to be released Nov. 28.
JK Rowling and other owners of Harry Potter intellectual material are, understandably, not excited about the idea of someone else making money off of their property. I have trouble seeing how this is going to get the green light.
