PATRICK STEWART, who played Captain Jean Luc Piccard in 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', is in Michigan with the Royal Shakespeare Company playing the part of Prospero the magician in 'The Tempest'.

But that doesn't mean he doesn't get some time off, and he showed up in Ann Arbor on Saturday afternoon to conduct the Michigan band at halftime of the Wolverines game against Ball State. He proclaimed that the mission was to "Boldly go and beat the Buckeyes!"

Make it so.

UPDATE: What can't you find on YouTube? Here's video:

Here's another lengthier take, a poorer-quality video but includes the "boldly go" proclamation. (Both via Deadspin, which has some, um, unfriendly lyrics to 'Hail to the Victors'...)

UPDATE 2: Here's a nice clear shot of Stewart at Second Recess. He's also got videos and more pics.
